Monticello

In interior design on Monday, we learned about Neoclassicism in America and Thomas Jefferson's influence on American style of architecture so naturally we learned about his house, Monticello. I was very into this because it combined two of my favorite things:  interior design and history. The exterior of this is classic and it is located on beautiful grounds but it is the interior that caught my attention because it is very ahead of its time in my opinion.

This yellow room especially I feel is very modern, and not just because the color. I guess it goes to show how things always come back in style.

Truck.

I miss my truck. It was so big and kept me safe even though it was impossible to park. I miss its loud horn and the saggy bumper and the crazy cd player and the license plate. 

I just miss driving all together. Now I have no freedom know to just go where I want when I want. I gotta walk all the way there. Which don't get me wrong, was kinda nice and fun at first but now its just getting old. And what am I supposed to do when its cold? I can't walk to the grocery store in the snow. If only I had access to a certain van....

Witty Title.

You know that awkward moment when you call your cousin to find out why he is 45 minutes late to pick you up for dinner but find out he is still in Virginia and that dinner is next week? 


Moving on.


My face wash FINALLY came. After three weeks and multiple orders it finally got shipped from the company's headquarters in Provo all the way to me in Provo. Ironic right? 


Anyway...

All Across the Board

So I just came from Interior Design and I won't bore you with more design stuff but as a side note to yesterday's post, my professor has also live in DC and basically everywhere in New England. Her life is my dream life. One more thing real quick, we learned about New England today and all the early American homes and they were so gorgeous and full of history--two things that I LOVE--and I just wanted to move into every single one.....well maybe not the really small ones.


Moving on.

Design

So I just watched the finale of HGTV's design star which inspired me to post about interior design... again. I love HGTV. My favorite show is Secrets from a Stylist because her show's gimmick is mixing styles and that is what I love.

By the end of my design class every week, I resolve to be an interior designer, and shows like this one do not help to sway me. But of course BYU does not have an interior design program and I don't know what to make of that, so until I figure something out, I am still set on nursing. And I'm my third week in so nothing is final, luckily. But also in my design class every week, I want to become more and more like my professor. Not because of her Better of Dead Voice, but because of her awesome life. She has spent multiple summers living in awesome places like France, England, and Italy. She travels all over America looking for cool designs and touring historic buildings. Basically everything I love and want to do with my life she has done. Except live in Chicago. She hasn't done that.
