The Little Things.

Just got back from my tenth trip to the bathroom in about two hours. I find that when I study on campus, I position myself close to a bathroom just cuz it makes life easier #smallbladderproblems.

But today I'm grateful for the little things. I'm grateful for a reliable printer that works everyday, without me wanting to cuss it out. 

I'm grateful for tissues, and most importantly, the little pack of kleenex my mom put in my backpack when she moved me into the dorms a thousand years ago. It has come in handy today, and has save my poor little nosey from scratchy campus paper towels. 

I'm grateful for the sun for melting all the terrible snow. 

I'm grateful for music because it makes boring and down-right miserable tasks like studying for physical science bearable.


I'm grateful for good hair days and cute outfit days because NOTHING can ruin one of those. 

I'm grateful for accomplishing little goals and that keep me on track when the big ones seem so far off. It makes those huge achievements seem that  much closer, and sometimes that's all you need to get back on track.

AZ Lovin.

For those of you who don't know, Arizona has its 101st birthday last week - Valentine's day to be exact. And since then I have thought a lot about good ol' AZ and how much I miss it. I miss the sunsets. I miss the warm, and the sun, and the wedding clouds. I miss my tan. I miss sandals and sun dresses. I miss the clear blue sky. I miss palm trees, and cactuses, and rocks. I miss hot asphalt and running through the sprinklers to cool down. I miss the flat.I miss monsoons and lightning storms and always being a little bit scared the world was ending. My heart shall forever be in Arizona. Desert girl through and through.

Per Request of the Krusty-Krust :

So I have been very busy lately as any college student can attest to, and a certain Krusty has been riding me about blogging. So here it is, per request of the Krust. 

I had the privilege of my family coming to visit in early October. They came for their October Break and conference and it was just a fantastic week. They chose a good week because my important class was canceled so I got to spend lots of time with them. We got our Cougar spirit on at the football game, begged for enough tickets to get all 15 of us into conference, heard history making announcements from the prophet, shopped 'til we dropped, played lots of cards and ghost in the graveyard, got leaves in our mouths on the coaster and saw some old beaver damns. A very fulfilling week if you ask me. 

Festival of Colors

 So this weekend my friends and I participated in the biggest Hindu celebration in the western hemisphere called Holi, or Festival of Colors. It is the Hindu festival to celebrate the coming of spring by throwing around colored chalk that represents the colors of spring. It was the funniest Hindu gathering I have ever been to, hands down! 

Blow by blow: crazy traffic and we end up getting there an hour later then we planned. Had to park and walk 2 miles. Bought bags of colorful chalk powder to throw at people. Chalk doesn't taste good. Very hard to breathe when "the throw" happens. Sonic is a godsend. All in all, great memories made with great people.

I love my friends and am going to miss them in 26 days when the semester is over. But we are going to have a blast in the meantime. Also, HARE KRISHNA!!!!!

Springtime Fun-time.

So its been crazy warm here so far this week. Like 65 degrees! (I know. I can't believe I am calling that warm either. That is straight up coat weather in Mesa!) 

My friends and I had definitely caught a serious case of spring fever and decided to go have a picnic in the park on Monday. We bought sandwich fixings from the creamery which included bread, turkey, mayonnaise, and basically plastic american singles cheese (gross, I know, but our choices are limited) and headed out. 

It was beautiful weather. The sun was shinning and there was a deliciously warm breeze blowing. Perfect sunglasses and sandals weather. And it was. First time this year I have worn either of those. Basically it just made me ache for summer to be here. I want be tan and layout and go on vacation. I can't wait.

It is 55 and sunny out today. More than that there was a warm breeze. Catch that? WARM! And the grass is starting to grow back in green. We walked past a patch of it the other day and Maeser got so excited he ran over and grabbed a big handful and made us all smell it. Smells like spring :)


More about the weather:  I still can't believe I said 55 is warm. At home 55 was coat and boots weather, but here it is shorts and sandals! I am worried that I will come home in the summer and not be able to handle AZ heat because I am acclimated to the Utah cold. Anyway...


Today is officially the half-way point of the semester. This semester has flown, even faster than the last. It will be very bittersweet when it ends because I get to see my family (yay!) and it will feel nice to have a year of college under my belt, but then I won't see my college friends all summer, and for the case of most of them, two years on top of that. 


I am also in the process of patching a hole in my pants so wish me luck. I have no Mom here to fix it if I mess up.


On the more serious side, a while back I was feeling very frustrated and helpless and struggling to keep my head above water, so to speak. I found this quote on Pinterest and it reminded me that I am in control, even when it feels like I'm not and to stay focused on what I really want. I told this story so 1) everyone can know I am doing well, 2) I just really like this quote and wanted to share it, and 3) to show my mom how awesome Pinterest is so she will just get on already!!

My Life Currently

So here at BYU time passes in strange ways. We are so busy that the weeks pass very quickly, but the days are twice as long. If you don't see someone for a day it feels like a week. This just adds to the fact that we seem to move from test to test, essay to essay. 


Which brings me to my next point:  midterms sound like a week of tests, but in fact I have been taking midterms for going on the THIRD WEEK. It's exhausting and stressful. But on a non-school note, its fun up here! This is what we have been up to lately in Stover 3200:

Update.

So it has been very busy up here at college as you can tell by my lack of blogging. So here's the update:  


-Monday after conference I receive a strange knock on my door in the middle of the day. It was Sister Willis and her daughter coming to visit me on their way home from conference. She gave me about 15 mom hugs and this.

A huge, fun present! That was filled with this.

Diet Coke and Paradise Bakery. De-li-cious.

Then for some reason on Wednesday it decided to drop 30+ degrees and SNOW!!! Even down on campus, though it didn't stick. Here is the wide shot.

 It was fun to have the cold weather for a while but I'm glad its over. I'm not ready for winter yet because 1) it's very cold and wet here in the winter and 2) we haven't even enjoyed our fall yet! So along with the crazy snow, it rained pretty much non-stop for about 3 days. And our very old dorm just couldn't handle it.

Saturday was the game and it was still very freezing so we got all bundled up to go watch BYU dominate. Then on our way home from Costa Vida, we noticed that only half the Y was lit. Too funny.

 If you can't tell that's the mis-shapen yellow object in the background. So all in all, a very cold weird random crazy busy week!
